Wonzu Au
문득 아주 엷고 투명한 이음매가 보이곤 한다.
경계와 경계가 맞닿아 태어난 이음매는
그 흔적의 감촉을 느끼기 힘들만큼 매끄러워 보인다.
그 경계를 보는 것으로 때론 무엇인가 태어난다.
세상의 이음매가 때론 시끄럽게 들린다. 눈을 감는다.
낮인데도 별이 떠 있다. 낮이라도 별은 떠 있다.
…결국 모든 것은 셀프 포트레이트가 아닌가, 라는 생각을 한다.
그렇게 안과 밖 그리고 경계면들의 수많은 맞닿음이 하나였음을 생각한다.
자화상적 상대성의 시작을 기점으로 최근엔 엥프라맹스(inframince)를
소재로 작업을 이어가고 있다.
Suddenly, I see a very thin, transparent seam.
The seam, born of boundary after boundary,
seems so smooth that it’s hard to feel its traces.
Sometimes something is born from seeing the boundary.
The seams of the world are sometimes loud. I close my eyes.
It’s daytime and the stars are up. Even in the daytime, the stars are up.
…In the end, I think, isn’t everything a self portrait?
In that way, I realize that the many encounters between inside and outside
and the boundaries are one.
Since the beginning of self-portrait relativity, I have recently been working on the theme of inframince as a material.
